Southern Extreme Water Ski Team, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation serving local families in Southwest Florida. Established in 1999, its members of the Team range in age from 7-79, and families comprise a significant portion of the membership. The Team designs, choreographs and performs water ski shows for the general public, helping to keep this classic art alive. Southern Extreme Water Ski Shows include graceful ballet lines, barefoot and trick skiing, jumps, wakeboarding and more. The show always has a theme and storyline that both entertains and educates the audience about the intricacies of show skiing. Southern Extreme also promotes and provides low cost certified instruction to the general public through quarterly learn-to-ski clinics and encourages interested individuals to join the Team regardless of skill level. A limited number of membership scholarships are available for those demonstrating need. The Team currently has 51 members. The majority of the members are teenagers who come to practice each week building confidence, self esteem and friendships through rigorous practices and instruction sessions. Southern Extreme alumni can go on to ski on college teams and compete at the collegiate and national level. Since several colleges in Florida offer water ski scholarships, Southern Extreme provides an excellent starting point for young people who want to further their education while continuing in their sport. Joining Southern Extreme is the perfect way to become involved in an art form not widely available to most people due to the cost of equipment and scarcity of trained and qualified instructors. We look forward to having you join us!
We gladly accept donations of old used or new ski equipment (ie: skis, ropes, handles, vests, booms, boats, etc.). Financial support also is needed to help with the cost fuel and of maintaining boats, insurance and equipment. Cash donations may be made here on the website under the Sponsors tab or via check sent to Southern Extreme, c/o Holly Schober, 95 Erie Dr., Naples, Florida 34110-1335.
